Al Lee has been investing in rent houses since 1974. His primary occupation has been computer software, but it was rental properties that he trusted to secure his future.
Through his youth his family's financial situation transformed from comfortable to precarious to near desperation largely because it depended almost entirely on his father's ability to earn money. By the age of fifteen he had lost both his parents and had to depend on the generosity of relatives to support him until he completed high school.
Understanding fully how unpleasant it was to be poor, and that he could rely on help from nobody but himself, he dedicated himself to studying how people became wealthy starting from humble beginnings. To his surprise, he learned that many really successful people had backgrounds, like his own, particularly lacking in advantages. A strong desire to succeed, an open mind, and the determination to learn were far more valuable than a privileged youth.
After absorbing the financial and business philosophies of the many self-made successes whose biographies he had read, he began to develop the principles he would use to guide him toward a secure future in which he could control his destiny.
He was determined to reach the point where his investments, not his labors, would support him and his family. Though he enjoyed a successful career in his software business and was always pleased to see his earned income increase, he continuously monitored the progress he was making in the growing income from his rent properties and viewed that as being far more important in the long run.
Through the years Al has earned the reputation of being an evangelist for rent house investing among his friends and associates. It has always frustrated him that it is so difficult to explain why rent houses are so terrific an investment because so many people start with a negative view based on ignorance and fear of the unknown.
This book documents the reasoning that led Al to choose rent houses over every other available form of investing, and the knowledge that he acquired in almost three decades of successful rent house investing. As a bonus, Al includes the powerful computerized tools he developed for his own use.
For many years Al has been active speaking and writing associated with his computer software career. He has had dozens of written works published nationwide in trade journals. This is his first offering on the topic of investing and financial management strategies. You can expect more in the future.
Al currently lives in Texas with his wife, Debi, and two small daughters, Alexandra and Sydney. He continues to invest in rent properties and to follow exactly the advice he offers in this book.
